Our Story

Who we are

Shepherds of Faith Global Network (SOFGN) is a Christ-centered nonprofit initiative based on Rusinga Island in Homabay County, Kenya, committed to strengthening churches and transforming communities.
Shepherds of Faith Global Network, is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit to ensure accountability, transparency, and partnership readiness with a Charity ID: 41-2735392

The organization was founded in response to two urgent challenges affecting rural Kenya: the shortage of theologically trained pastors and the persistent problem of food insecurity among vulnerable families. Although the church plays a central role in community life, many pastors serve faithfully without access to formal ministry training, leaving congregations vulnerable to doctrinal confusion and weak leadership structures. At the same time, many households face economic hardship due to declining fishing income, unpredictable agriculture, and limited opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.

Shepherds of Faith Global Network (SOFGN) is committed to a holistic model that equips spiritually grounded leaders while empowering communities through sustainable agriculture. Through the Shepherds of Faith Leadership Training Center, pastors and ministry leaders will receive practical theological education in areas such as biblical interpretation, pastoral leadership, and discipleship. Alongside this training, agricultural programs—including crop farming, poultry production, and community farming education—will provide food, practical skills, and economic opportunity for local families. By integrating spiritual formation with community development, the initiative seeks to raise leaders who strengthen churches while helping communities thrive—truly living out the vision of feeding both the soul and the body.
